The North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) has announced changes to take effect January 1st, 2010 which will impact the Series 63, 65 and 66 exams.

Effective January 1st, 2010 the passing scores required for each exam will be increasing as follows:

Series 63 - Increasing from 70% to 72%
Series 65 - Increasing from 68.5% to 72%
Series 66 - Increasing from 71% to 75%

In addition to the changes in the minimum required passing scores the NASAA also modified the outlines of all three exams.  The Series 63 exam outline was simply reorganized and does not include any new content.  Both the makeup and organization of the Series 65 & 66 exams has been modified and new content has been added to both exams.  If you are studying for any of these exams make it your goal to take and pass your exam prior to the new year.  If you will be taking your exam after the 1st, rest assured that we will be publishing updates related to the new content found in the 65 & 66 exams in December and will continue to fine tune our courses on into the new year.

The Series 65 license is a license that is obtained by a individual who wants to charge a fee for giving investment advice.  You cannot sell securities and charge a commission on the sale with this license.  If you have a Series 7 license and/or plan on obtaining a Series 7 license the Series 66 license will allow you to sell securities and charge a commission in addition to giving investment advice and charging a fee.  The Series 7 & 66 are co requisite licenses.  If an individual obtains the Series 66 license they do not need to obtain the Series 63 or Series 65 as the Series 66 license is a combination of both.
